I have bought some books

Yay new books! Restarting my book collections and making sure that my 3 months of holidays will be somewhat fulfilling. The top left book is about JOAN OF ARC!!! I'm quite excited about it because when I was 11 I watched the Joan of Arc movie and was very moved for some reason.

Yes, my fingers are stubby.

I JUST WATCHED SUPER(exams? who has them?) AND IT WAS SO AWESOME. I know it looks a lot like kickass and yeah it's a pretty similar concept but I have to say I LOVE THIS MORE. And goddammit, I wish Ellen Page would rape me. ;D

Pop

I just bought a bunch of books from a gem of an local online bookstore. :>:>:> Prices were very reasonable as well. Extremely pleased.

Exams start in... 36 hours. Is there a switch somewhere in my brain that I can push so that it'll actually be properly aware of the fact and forces it to ACTIVATE URGENT EXAM MODE?
Woe is me.

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

I'm currently in the midst of exam preparations and it's strange but it doesn't feel at all like what I experienced last semester.
Previously, I spent the study week frantically cramming as much information into my brain as possible, but this time, it feels as though there is just no urgency. I've spent less time procrastinating compared to last semester(or so I'd like to think), but fjbweiub8&W*3ibd I haven't really been studying STUDYING. I can't really put it into words but my brain feels strangely numb.

In other news, I've gotten an internal offer for an exchange with the University of Innsbruck. Currently, I'm preparing with the application with the partner school, and nothing is confirmed yet, but hell, I'm excited. I really hope everything goes smoothly because I WANNA SKI. That's my main objective I think haha. Well there's also the AMAZING view, road trips to neighbouring countries(30 mins to Italy, an hour and a half to Germany), geeking out to historically significant venues and being away from this God forsaken place for half a year.

abrupt end.

Traumberuf

A little while back we had to talk about our Traumberuf(dream job) during German class and most of my classmates had NO. DREAM. JOBS.
HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? My poor, poor classmates.

TB.

Image from here.
I saw this bag on Blushing Ambition and it's so nice! But $110 for a tote bag is... $_$ even for a tote bag whore like me(YES I AM GOING TO ADMIT IT, I AM A TOTE BAG WHORE). And goddammit I love everything she owns. HOW DOES SHE AFFORD EVERYTHING? And why does the food she eat look so delicious every single time? IS THAT WHAT EXPENSIVE CAMERAS DO? WHY DO I NOT OWN AN EXPENSIVE CAMERA SO THAT I CAN AFFORD EXPENSIVE ARTICLES OF CLOTHINGS/ACCESSORIES ramble ramble illogical ramble
BUT IT'S SO NICE. :"(
Anyway this reminds me of a book I saw at the NMS shop the other day: The Tote Bag. I really wanted to get it (and it was 30% off...) and I still do. kjfkhgdf shall get it when I get my allowance.

Edit: Now I feel like getting THIS.

One last thing I want to share for the night

MGMT

01200038
Caught The Whitest Boy Alice and MGMT live on 24/03/11.
I really enjoyed myself that night. Muon(postrock local band) opened for them and I got in half-way through their set. I've heard their stuff during the Mosaic fest and I'm not a much of a fan of their music, but I think there were quite a few in the audience that enjoyed their set. I think I would've appreciated it more if their frontmen(well, I don't know whether postrock bands have one but it was the only guy that talked on the mic) sounded more enthusiastic. He was just so. monotonous. But anyway, TWBA was gooood. Actually I'm not such a big fan of them because erm I just think that Erlend's voice makes all his songs sound the same(including Kings of Conveniences') but. IT WAS STILL FUN + He is v cute.
01200037
I loved MGMT! I don't really care so much that the ~critics~ say that they're not good live but HEY! You make your own happy fun times in these sort of situations. It did help that the crowd(at least in my area) was pretty good (especially relative to esplanade crowds - blargh, they're a terrible bunch). So very happy when they played The Youth, Kids(Oh, I know, I know) and Brian Eno!

Other than this, so far this year I've caught Blonde Redhead, 65daysofstatic(!!!!!!!) and d.v.d. Yeah, I should record gigs that I've been going to down before they just diminish into nothingness in my mind. So yes, that's what my blog seems to be for.

Laneway 2011

01200010
Here's a terribly belated post of pictures from laneway festival 2011! Laneway was pretty much a dream come true. So many awesome bands, one great day. What more can one ask for?
01540025
The only downside for the day was the fact that the sky pretty much decided to spend the day peeing on us. Started when I was queue-ing(ALONE, because the rest were coming later and I am a merch whore), and bouts of heavy rain continued throughout the day.
01540027
(Warpaint)
Note the weird guy in a trench coat blocking everyone behind him. Dammit, guy.

01540030
(Still Warpaint, but of STELLA FREAKING MOZGAWA(on the screen))
01540035
(Beach house)
01200009
(Deerhunter)
01200015
01200017
(Scary Adilah, Happy Xiangyin and her friend whose name I forgot although I met him recently at MGMT)
01200020
(Holy Fuck)
Epic parts of the day were:
Holy Fuck playing Lovely Allen. Tears, in, my, eyes. Seriously my favourite set of the day.
Foals, foals, fooooooals. All the way from waiting for their, with black balloons, annoying expat kids, m*tboyz and the rain. THE RAIN. So heavy before they came on. So perfectly powdery during their set. Most beautiful moment of the night - Spanish Sahara+THE RAIN.

It has been so long, can't remember the details, much less write them down. All I remember that it was a lot of fun.
Extremely excited for next year, and all the future laneways from now on!
