gadsgjahsd Hi.
I haven't been up to much except sleeping a ton and eating a ton and skating a ton. Anyway I found a map of Ukraine randomly at home so here it is. I BET YOU DONT HAVE A MAP OF UKRAINE IN YOUR LOUSY HOUSE. (Sorry, I didn't mean that.)
And hooray new books again to add on to my to-read list! Whoop Nicole Krausssssssss! I know it came out ages ago but wtv man idgaf. Anyway hope its good! But I will only start with it after I'm done with the 6 or so books I have in my list before it whoopedoo I am such a slow lazy reader. I've only been using this place to post books I have hahaha oh wellll at least i get to keep track of them somehow. I kinda have a tinge of regret for selling my library away but I guess this gives me an excuse to buy more books even though I am really quite broke and should not be buying them and yes, i like run on sentences.
In other news, I wanna get a longboard when I have money!!!! Yessir, I know its v hipsta kewlz but they seem so funnnn and carefreeeeeee to be cruising around on them!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you youtube but making me broke. Hope this goes away before I have the money...

Oh Dear, such a terrible post.

Where and how can I acquire such perfection?

To my left knee pad

Dearest pad of my left knee's, I am sorry of my natural tendencies to fall to my left, thus disfiguring you to such an extent. I know that you look upon your right counterpart with jealousy and a hint of admiration, for avoiding such a disastrous consequence, all due to the way I have been built.
Do not worry, for in time to come, I will remove your hard shell, to remove it with a brand new one.

Sincerely,
Me

I have bought some books

Yay new books! Restarting my book collections and making sure that my 3 months of holidays will be somewhat fulfilling. The top left book is about JOAN OF ARC!!! I'm quite excited about it because when I was 11 I watched the Joan of Arc movie and was very moved for some reason.

Yes, my fingers are stubby.

I JUST WATCHED SUPER(exams? who has them?) AND IT WAS SO AWESOME. I know it looks a lot like kickass and yeah it's a pretty similar concept but I have to say I LOVE THIS MORE. And goddammit, I wish Ellen Page would rape me. ;D

Pop

I just bought a bunch of books from a gem of an local online bookstore. :>:>:> Prices were very reasonable as well. Extremely pleased.

Exams start in... 36 hours. Is there a switch somewhere in my brain that I can push so that it'll actually be properly aware of the fact and forces it to ACTIVATE URGENT EXAM MODE?
Woe is me.

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

I'm currently in the midst of exam preparations and it's strange but it doesn't feel at all like what I experienced last semester.
Previously, I spent the study week frantically cramming as much information into my brain as possible, but this time, it feels as though there is just no urgency. I've spent less time procrastinating compared to last semester(or so I'd like to think), but fjbweiub8&W*3ibd I haven't really been studying STUDYING. I can't really put it into words but my brain feels strangely numb.

In other news, I've gotten an internal offer for an exchange with the University of Innsbruck. Currently, I'm preparing with the application with the partner school, and nothing is confirmed yet, but hell, I'm excited. I really hope everything goes smoothly because I WANNA SKI. That's my main objective I think haha. Well there's also the AMAZING view, road trips to neighbouring countries(30 mins to Italy, an hour and a half to Germany), geeking out to historically significant venues and being away from this God forsaken place for half a year.

abrupt end.

Traumberuf

A little while back we had to talk about our Traumberuf(dream job) during German class and most of my classmates had NO. DREAM. JOBS.
HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? My poor, poor classmates.

TB.

Image from here.
I saw this bag on Blushing Ambition and it's so nice! But $110 for a tote bag is... $_$ even for a tote bag whore like me(YES I AM GOING TO ADMIT IT, I AM A TOTE BAG WHORE). And goddammit I love everything she owns. HOW DOES SHE AFFORD EVERYTHING? And why does the food she eat look so delicious every single time? IS THAT WHAT EXPENSIVE CAMERAS DO? WHY DO I NOT OWN AN EXPENSIVE CAMERA SO THAT I CAN AFFORD EXPENSIVE ARTICLES OF CLOTHINGS/ACCESSORIES ramble ramble illogical ramble
BUT IT'S SO NICE. :"(
Anyway this reminds me of a book I saw at the NMS shop the other day: The Tote Bag. I really wanted to get it (and it was 30% off...) and I still do. kjfkhgdf shall get it when I get my allowance.

Edit: Now I feel like getting THIS.

One last thing I want to share for the night

MGMT

01200038
Caught The Whitest Boy Alice and MGMT live on 24/03/11.
I really enjoyed myself that night. Muon(postrock local band) opened for them and I got in half-way through their set. I've heard their stuff during the Mosaic fest and I'm not a much of a fan of their music, but I think there were quite a few in the audience that enjoyed their set. I think I would've appreciated it more if their frontmen(well, I don't know whether postrock bands have one but it was the only guy that talked on the mic) sounded more enthusiastic. He was just so. monotonous. But anyway, TWBA was gooood. Actually I'm not such a big fan of them because erm I just think that Erlend's voice makes all his songs sound the same(including Kings of Conveniences') but. IT WAS STILL FUN + He is v cute.
01200037
I loved MGMT! I don't really care so much that the ~critics~ say that they're not good live but HEY! You make your own happy fun times in these sort of situations. It did help that the crowd(at least in my area) was pretty good (especially relative to esplanade crowds - blargh, they're a terrible bunch). So very happy when they played The Youth, Kids(Oh, I know, I know) and Brian Eno!

Other than this, so far this year I've caught Blonde Redhead, 65daysofstatic(!!!!!!!) and d.v.d. Yeah, I should record gigs that I've been going to down before they just diminish into nothingness in my mind. So yes, that's what my blog seems to be for.

Laneway 2011

01200010
Here's a terribly belated post of pictures from laneway festival 2011! Laneway was pretty much a dream come true. So many awesome bands, one great day. What more can one ask for?
01540025
The only downside for the day was the fact that the sky pretty much decided to spend the day peeing on us. Started when I was queue-ing(ALONE, because the rest were coming later and I am a merch whore), and bouts of heavy rain continued throughout the day.
01540027
(Warpaint)
Note the weird guy in a trench coat blocking everyone behind him. Dammit, guy.

01540030
(Still Warpaint, but of STELLA FREAKING MOZGAWA(on the screen))
01540035
(Beach house)
01200009
(Deerhunter)
01200015
01200017
(Scary Adilah, Happy Xiangyin and her friend whose name I forgot although I met him recently at MGMT)
01200020
(Holy Fuck)
Epic parts of the day were:
Holy Fuck playing Lovely Allen. Tears, in, my, eyes. Seriously my favourite set of the day.
Foals, foals, fooooooals. All the way from waiting for their, with black balloons, annoying expat kids, m*tboyz and the rain. THE RAIN. So heavy before they came on. So perfectly powdery during their set. Most beautiful moment of the night - Spanish Sahara+THE RAIN.

It has been so long, can't remember the details, much less write them down. All I remember that it was a lot of fun.
Extremely excited for next year, and all the future laneways from now on!

CPDG

I should really be studying for my German semester test but I really wanna express the fact that I LOVE MY DERBY SISTERS.

Who are they? Check them out!

Deciding to join a sport that I had no basic skills of and together with no one(read: Alone!!!) was really the best choice I've made in recent times. Anyway these few months of knowing them has been such a great time, I've been learning so much about life and gaining insights but also can happily be immature and really, just feel at home. I really, really cannot wait to strap my skates on and start skating with them (Because of my stupid broken armzz). They're just the main light of my life now. (Srsly, my life is so mundane without my tuesday and thursday nights)

Yay somewhat proper post.

P.S. My keyboard has been pretty screwed up the whole day because I spilled water on it(long story) but when I decided to post this, it kinda fixed itself!!!!! ~DERBY MAGICK~

P.P.S. This is a post from the depths of my heart, and I was not forced or coerced into posting this!!! BUT WE WELCOME FRESH MEAT ANYTIME!!!!! (Just drop me a comment/text/fb message if you're interested ;D)

Dubai 2010/2011

01040001
Hi thereee! This is a bunch of pictures i took in dubai while i was there from 24/12/10 till 1/1/11!
01040016
I visited the dubai zoo, which was built in 1967 and is actually the oldest existing zoo in the Arabian peninsula. The place was generally in poor condition and had mostly inadequate habitat for animals.
01040025
It broke my heart to see so many beautiful animals in small, bare spaces, especially considering that temperatures in the country rises beyond 50C during the summer months. Terrible place, and I hope the dubai authorities would really do something about it.(Apparently there are plans for a new zoo, but they were put on whole due to the whole dubai crisis recently. sigh.)
01040029
That's my paps. :>
01040030
The zoo was near jumeirah beach so we dropped by! It was really, really nice. White sand, blue sea, clear sky. I think part of it was reclaimes but heck, it was still a splendid place.
01040033
(Light leaks, boohoo.) But anyway thats the world's tallest building, the burj khalifa, in the middle. I had a pretty good view of it from my dad's apartment, and i especially liked looking at it on hazy(? sandy?) days because it just looks like a tear in the skies. Up close, it's huuuuge.
01020005
The desert! We went for this touristy desert safari thing(idk why they call it a 'safari when there weren't animals, except domesticated camels and annoying children). Basically, we have a really bumpy(but fun!) ride on 4wds around the dunes till we reach this camp place in the middle of the desert. There're some things you can do at the camp(shisha, henna, buying souvenirs) and then there's a 'cultural' show and a dinner buffet of local fare. The 4wd ride was really fun haha the driver played really loud arabic pop music in the car and we were just thrown about from the bumps and slopes. My dad and i figured we got some rogue driver because the rest of the cars seemed to go at a much lower speed and they were in convoys of a few cars whilst we were alone!!
01020011
The cultural show was really... underwhelming. There was an egyptian dancer, he was alright, followed by an iranian singer(?? at this but most of the audience were iranian tourists, so they enjoyed it at least) and an obligatory belly dancer. The food was... interesting haha the roasted meat were roasted meat(can't rly go wrong there) but the rices(haha they had 2 kinds) were strange tasting and they had a bunch of salads. Yeahhhhhh and it was rly cold at night.
01020020
01020029
There was also the dubai museum, at the tourist district. I generally like museums but I didn't like theirs. :( The place mostly covered on the modern history of dubai and how it grew to become what it is now, with dark pathways and creepy+lifelike mannequins(i rly hate manequins, even those at clothing shops scare me) acting out how people in the past did things. They had a small section with archeological finds(above) which was my favourite part of the museum.
01020038
Other than the above-mentioned, i went to dubailand/global village(uncle ringo-esque theme park + pavilions w little stores from all over the world), the spice, textile and gold souks, the hugeeeeeee malls. I'd elaborate more but my typing with one arm gets tiring. kbye.
